Sivan Borowich:
Sivan is the Founder and President of Jewish Heart for Africa, a non-profit organization that brings Israeli solar technologies for water pumping and energy to African rural villages. Sivan founded the Israeli Student Life (ISL) Association at Columbia University, which worked to cultivate Israeli culture within Columbia University and to unite students interested in Israel.
Gali Cooks:
Gali Cooks is a Program Director at the Rita & Stanley Kaplan Family Foundation (Kaplan, as in, the test-prep guru). Her initiation into the world of capacity building and strategic philanthropy began in 2004, when she took a brisk walk with Harold Grinspoon, founder of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, who told her about an idea to give away Jewish children’s books for free to Jewish families with young kids; nine months later The PJ Library was born with Gali as its Founding Director. Before delving into philanthropy, Gali spent several years in Washington, DC as a speechwriter for Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, as a Legislative Assistant at the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and as a Research Analyst for the Newton & Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust.
In addition to her role at the Kaplan Family Foundation, Gali is involved with the New York City Venture Philanthropy Fund where she serves as the Chair of the Grants Committee. The Fund is a giving circle of individuals who pool their philanthropic dollars together to issue grants and provide capacity building services to local social entrepreneurs.
Jeffrey Greenman:
Jeffrey Greenman is an advertising strategist/technologist who has the intuitive combination of the publisher and advertising perspective. He has architected and integrated all current advertising technology related projects for FOXNews.com and FOXBusiness.com advertising platforms. Due to his creativity he has contributed to many FOX projects including: current video platform selection, advanced algorithm building for analytics, and laying business process foundations.
Prior to working for FOXNews he developed an online video editing and advertising suite which led him to be hired as the developer of advertising technology. His work gave him a thorough footing as a field expert in online video and advertising technology solutions and for this reason he resides on a video technology selection panel for Fox video technologies.
As the assistant to the CTO of Los Angeles based E-shop Enterprises Jeffrey aided in the vision and architecture of a diverse range of products. These included: a robotic camera system and a in-house advertising platform. Due to his creativity he participated in the creation of marketing campaigns for budgets in the millions of dollars.
Dr. Steven Safier:
A senior vice president and chief administrative officer of the SUBWAY® Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust (SFAFT), which creates advertising and marketing programs that are designed to build sales and promote the image of the restaurant chain. Safier has extensive experience working with boards, top executives, employees and owners handling organization and operational issues in a broad range of industries. At SUBWAY® Restaurants, Safier will be responsible for Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Governance, Legal and Board Elections and Process. Safier will also be a key contributor to helping the SUBWAY® Restaurants’ families work together in the best service of the franchisees. “Steve’s wealth of experience in organizational transformation will be a huge asset to SFAFT as we continue the process of building the best marketing organization in our industry,” said Tom Seddon, chief executive officer and executive director of SFAFT.
Safier was retained as a consultant by the SFAFT Board of Trustees in December 2003 to conduct an organization assessment and help position SFAFT for international growth, increased profitability and enhanced franchisee service. In this capacity he worked closely with the Board and with Tom Seddon. “The time I’ve spent already working with SFAFT has shown me the power of the brand, the commitment of the people and the tremendous opportunity for growth. I am excited to now be a part of this organization ‘from the inside’ and look forward to contributing to franchisees’ success.” Safier was formerly a partner in the HayGroup, a global management consulting firm, where he served as a consultant for 18 years. At HayGroup, he helped companies in many different industries develop capability to support growing and changing business needs. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from Touro College in New York City, a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut.
Dr Jonathan Woocher:
Dr. Woocher is the chief idea officer of JESNA and heads its Lippman Kanfer Institute: An Action-oriented Think Tank for Innovation in Jewish Learning and Engagement. Before assuming his current position this year, he served for 20 years as JESNA’s CEO. Dr. Woocher is the primary author of the Lippman Kanfer Institute’s Working Paper, “Redesigning Jewish Education for the 21st Century,” which outlines key design principles to maximize Jewish education’s relevance and effectiveness in a rapidly changing world. Prior to coming to JESNA, Dr. Woocher served on the faculty of Carleton College in Minnesota and Brandeis University. Dr. Woocher is the author of Sacred Survival: The Civil Religion of American Jews and numerous articles on Jewish education, community, and religious life.
